Because of our young age, we don&#8217;t mind that at all. We don&#8217;t even think about it.</p><p>But when we are at age, we all have to grow old! Now THAT&#8217;S another matter!</p><p>While we age, we’ll notice an increasing number of creases on our faces and feel pains we&#8217;ve never experienced before when we were younger. If only we were able to freeze time and stay young forever. After dreaming, reality strikes. One thing is certain in life: the fact that we all finally age. A lot of people handle this through cosmetic surgery, others hide their real age.</p><p>Of course it&#8217;s up to you to handle growing old, but there are some things you&#8217;ll be able to do to stay healthy so that you will always feel younger than you really are. Here a few tricks you might want to use:</p><ol><li>When you would like to feel young, attitude plays a central role. If you don’t believe that you can, you can’t expect to look young. All it takes is realize that if you look after yourself well enough, you can be as healthy and vivid as you were years ago.</li><li>Watch your food and take the necessary nutrients and vitamins. When you are frequently ill, you may age faster. In order to stay healthy, food plays a big role, so you&#8217;d better watch it carefully.</li><li>Exercise regularly to take care of your body.  YES, it&#8217;s a tedious job, but working out keeps your body and muscles in topnotch shape, thus decreasing aches and strains when you overexert yourself.</li><li>By all means discover the value of sense of humor. If you don’t take yourselve and life too seriously, you will not worry about even the most banal of matters.</li><li>Avoid stressful situations, because stress deteriorates the body. Lines of worry eventually show in your face when you are often depressed.</li><li>Hydrate yourself. Take lots of water to moisture your body. This can visibly lessen lines and wrinkles.</li><li>Make every moment of your life count and enjoy it to the fullest, as if it were your last. Never linger over your fears. Life is short as it is, so you won&#8217;t have any regrets in the end when you recognize that you’ve lived it to the fullest.</li></ol><p>Occasionally, we have to motivate ourselves to stay young. If you find this hard to do, then take five minutes to call back all your tremendous blessings. It will amaze you when you recognize how much you have when you investigate yourself and the life you’ve lived. Being upbeat is always good, so that we&#8217;re anxious to discover what the future holds for us.</p><p>The same applies for setting a series of goals that you need to achieve. Reconsider the list above again and draw wise decisions. Your past mistakes are just lessons learned. If you do this, then  it will not be difficult to stay young at heart . It might be even a lot easier than you think.</p><p>Above all, always try to be happy. Consider life as a perpetual surprise and therefore welcome each with open arms. Another form of abuse that may not be quite as well publicized is senior abuse.  This form of abuse happens to thousands of older people every year, and can happen at home, in medical facilities, and in residential centers  anywhere there are older people who may not be able to defend themselves and their rights.</p><p>Senior abuse is not limited to dementia patients or to the extremely old.  It is also not limited to merely physical abuse  denying someone their personal safety or rights is also a form of abuse, as is mismanagement of finances and neglect.</p><p>For example, an elderly person could have a private nurse who comes in to assist them.  If that nurse were to take some of the prescriptions to sell, and causing the patient not to receive the proper dose, this is a form of abuse.</p><p>The Administration On Aging suggests that anytime you suspect abuse it should be reported to the adult protective services agency in your area.  Calls can be made anonymously.  By making yourself familiar with the warning signs of abuse, you can make a difference in your community.</p><p>Senior abuse is a broad term that can cover a variety of abuses.<br /> Physical abuse is inflicting pain or injury or depriving someone of a basic need.  Non-consensual sexual contact is considered sexual abuse.<br /> Mental and/or emotional pain can be constituted as emotional or psychological abuse.<br /> Senior abuse can also come in the form of financial or material exploitation, neglect in the form of refusal or failure to provide for basic needs, self-neglect when an elderly person threatens their own safety, and abandonment when someone who is caring for the person deserts them.</p><p>Any senior can be a target for abuse.  Most victims are women, though it can also happen to men.  Many older people feel that they have no right to complain and should suffer without saying anything, so you may have to watch for signs.<br /> Like many abuse victims, they may feel that they did something to be treated in such a fashion.<br /> You should never be afraid to speak up, provided that you keep in mind that someone can refuse help.  Even seemingly minor incidents can escalate if they go unchecked, so anytime that you suspect abuse you should do something about it.</p><p>There are certain warning signs that you can watch out for.  Bruises, pressure marks, broken bones, and other signs of injuries can be signs of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment.  A person who suddenly withdraws from the things they like to do or suffer from an unexplained depression may be a victim of emotional abuse.  Bruising on the breast or genitals can signal sexual abuse.  An unexplained change in financial situations can come from exploitation.  Unattended medical needs, bad hygiene, and bedsores can be signs of neglect.  Tense relationships and frequent arguments can also be signs.</p><p>Take time to pay attention to the elderly people in your life  whether it is a friend, family member, or even yourself. Many of us not only want to live longer, we want to live healthier lives in which to enjoy the longevity of them.</p><p>One reason for our increased longevity is that our industrialized society has broadened our ability to have good things including improved sanitation, medicines and other medical technologies, improved nutritional knowledge, and better food and water supplies have all contributed to our ability to live longer.<br /> The purposeful goal of living a life that is natural, simple and free of toxins can also help us to achieve this goal of living a long life.</p><p>There are those of us who aspire to live to be 100 and still enjoy the lives we live.</p><p>We want to maintain our mobility, our independence and our bodily functions. To do this we must take good care of our body parts while we go through our youth, and our middle age so that by the time we enter our 60&#8242;s and 70&#8242;s we have learned how to age gracefully and with dignity.</p><p>Growing old gracefully just doesn&#8217;t happen without putting some thought and action into achieving this noble goal. Our lifestyle determined by the risks we take and the healthy habits we cultivate, or not, have a bearing on the state of our health in later years.</p><p>Aging successfully means that we actually get to achieve old age by caring for our body and by not participating in dangerous activity that would put our body at risk for disease or injury. This applies to sexual activity as well as physical sporting or work/pleasure activities as well. It entails thinking about consequences for our behavior so that we are protecting the health of our body in everything that we do.</p><p><strong>Aging successfully</strong> hinges on providing our bodies with proper nutrition throughout every life stage.<br /> Each stage has different needs from embryonic, infant, toddler, child, older child, teen, young adult, adult and aging adult. The body grows rapidly right from conception through the teen years, when it changing to reproductive tasks and matures.</p><p>Growing and reproducing has different nutritional requirements from the mature and aging body and so we must make good choices when we plan meals so that everyone gathered around the table has what their body needs at that particular stage.<br /> There are vital nutrients that our bodies require to build cells and to function properly. These needs change over time and so our food selection choices should change to.<br /> There are certified nutritionists who work in clinics, schools, health centers and hospitals that are available to answer our questions regarding what foods are best at which life stage. In order to continue with your youth, you have to keep your body in the best of condition, on both the outside and in the inside.<br /> There are some simple things that you can do that will help you to <strong>add 10 years to your life</strong>.</p><p>Start by having an annual physical exam. While no one enjoys going to the doctor, it can be one of the best things you can do for yourself.  Many health problems can be averted or minimized with early detection.  Your doctor can also help you to determine what vitamins, supplements, and medications will keep you operating at your full potential.</p><p>Another thing you can do is become a volunteer.  Not only can volunteering make improvements in your community, it can make improvements in your life.  You will have the joy and satisfaction of helping others as well.  For maximum benefits, you should volunteer on a regular basis.</p><p>Learning from your mistakes is something else you can do to live longer.  But do not linger on them  learn to laugh at them.  Having a sense of humor about things even when they are not perfect can definitely help you to live longer.</p><p>Get yourself a listening ear. Whether it be a close friend or a member of your clergy, having someone to vent your problems out on can help keep you from bottling them in and stressing out about them.  Plus, having someone that you can share your problems with can help you to get a fresh perspective and find solutions.</p><p>Keep your mind sharp with some sort of daily mental exercise.  If you get the newspaper, try filling out the daily crossword.  If not, other puzzles and games can help keep your mind working.  Remember, the brain is like a muscle  if you do not use it, you will lose it!</p><p>Consider getting a furry or feathered companion. It has long been common knowledge that pets are great stress relievers and can help you live longer.  Plus some pets, like dogs, can help get you moving outdoors and get some of that daily exercise that everyone needs.</p><p>Become active in your church or other religious association.  Faith in something can help you to live longer.  Join the choir, take up a Bible study, or participate in church activities.  Not only will your faith get stronger, but you will also be building lasting friendships.</p><p>Do not be afraid of aging.  Accept it as one of those life stages that all of us have to go through.  Look to the positives and downplay any negative emotions.  If it helps, take a few minutes each day to look in the mirror and tell yourself you like what you see.</p><p>Fill up your social calendar.  It has been proven that friends of all types can help you to live longer.  They may even have more of an impact on your longevity than your family.</p><p>Lastly, throw open the windows!  Getting some fresh air and sunlight is good for everyone.  Even better, take some time to go outside as often as you can.
